Becoming
Trauma-Informed

Foundational Trauma Awareness (25 Hours)

shift from individual awareness toward collective impact

  • This part of the training invites participants to explore how trauma-aware skills can extend into service, community, and shared care.
  • Together we look at how resilience may be supported through small, steady practices that create space for dignity.
  • Participants have opportunities to practice approaches that encourage empowerment and co-creation, with attention to agency and self-trust.
  • Relational safety is explored through consistency, compassion, and presence.
  • The idea of hopeful presence is introduced as a way of supporting confidence in others, while also noticing what steadiness feels like personally.
  • Finally, attention is given to how individual skills can connect to community networks, opening pathways for shared resilience.

What You’ll Learn

  • Understand trauma literacy through a neuroscience lens: explore how the nervous system responds to stress and trauma, and how resilience is supported through body-based practices.

  • Practice grounding and interoceptive skills: develop steadying strategies that invite choice, awareness of body signals, and gentle regulation for self and others.

  • Strengthen language that fosters dignity and trust: use invitational, choice-centered communication that supports empowerment and reduces retraumatization risk.

  • Clarify scope of practice and ethical foundations: explore role boundaries, cultural awareness, and collaborative care as essential elements of safe trauma-aware practice.

  • Experience wraparound care in community: learn alongside professionals across disciplines, experiencing how safety, trust, and empowerment ripple outward when practiced together.

  • Integrate reflective practices for growth: engage in guided reflection and embodied integration to carry trauma-aware presence into everyday life.

Value of These Skills

By completing this training, participants gain practical tools they can use immediately, alongside a framework for deepening their professional presence. These skills not only support safer classrooms, studios, and therapy spaces, but they also cascade outward by contributing to stronger families, workplaces, and communities.

Accessible, Unique Learning Tools

Every participant receives a Trauma-Aware 30 Card Deck (Yoga or Somatic edition). These cards provide accessible, choice-based prompts for grounding, reflection, and regulation, offering an ongoing resource for personal use, professional practice, or group settings.
